What is TIMELAPSE?
TIMELAPSE is a Proof of Concept project stemming from the ERC Advanced project AN-ICON. It is dedicated to prototyping, testing, and launching on the market a virtual reality (VR) application that will accelerate subjective time passage during chemotherapy.
In current clinical practice, chemotherapy is key in advancing the chances of cure and survival in people with cancer. However, the extended duration of each treatment session impacts negatively the patients’ well-being, and hence reduces adherence to the therapeutic program.
Our mission is to enhance the temporal dimension of chemotherapy with innovative methods, relying on theoretical models and adopting a patient-centered design approach.
To achieve this goal, we have devised a five-step track of activities that will take TIMELAPSE’s idea to proof of concept within 18 months:

- Pre-commercialization

After months of preliminary work, we are finally ready to kick off our project and share this exciting journey with interested readers and stakeholders!
We are a highly interdisciplinary team combining philosophers and experts in cognitive sciences (AN-ICON), VR developers (KHORA), and medical doctors with a specialization in oncology (Fondazione IRCCS San Gerardo dei Tintori).
By working in synergy, we aim to bring out the best of each other’s skills and put it at the service of patient-oriented innovation.
